Chief Executive Officer
Mike Gaburo has a 20-year proven track record of expanding and scaling technology-enabled businesses. With his expertise in leading software-as-a-service (SaaS) businesses, he has driven sustained growth in revenue, margin, EBITDA, and stock price, and has built strong teams, leading them in industry sales and service excellence.
Prior to his leadership role at Brightwell, Mike served as COO of Paycor Inc., a provider of payroll, HRM and workforce management SaaS to 30,000+ businesses, where he led Paycor to a 4x increase in revenue and an 8x gain in EBITDA. He also served as Vice President of Corporate Development and Vice President of Cleanroom Resources Division, at Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) – a global provider of business services.
Chief Financial Officer
An executive with a proven track record of finance and operational leadership across multiple industries and companies, John McEwan is the former Chief Financial Officer for Peoplenet, a SaaS based workforce management company. During his tenure, he helped grow the company experiencing a five-year CACR over 20% which resulted in two successful exits returning over 3.5x for its investors within 18 months.
Before joining Peoplenet in 2010, John ran a consulting firm that provided CFO and operational related services to various types of companies. He also served as the Southeast Regional Controller for the Quikrete Companies and as a Strategic Analyst for Centex Homes. He began his career in public accounting concluding his tenure with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he worked in audit and transactional services.
Chief Operating Officer
Larry Hipp brings more than 14 years of experience in the technology and product development field to his role at Brightwell. He has a proven track record of creating expertly crafted digital products that deliver comprehensive value. Unlike many technologists however, Larry is uniquely able to connect all the critical elements of digital strategy and performance expertise to develop a product that excels in user experience, functional software, and digital marketing combined.
SVP, Client Services
John Markendorf cultivated his leadership expertise via over 10 years’ experience working in prepaid and payments, drawing on deep roots in customer service. He leverages this expertise to proactively manage Brightwell’s Support, Implementations, and Account Management teams.
John started his career in operations at West Suburban Bank in Chicago Illinois in their prepaid division (Prepaid Solutions, USA) after graduating college. There, he moved up through the ranks in client support, and relocated to Atlanta in 2012, following the acquisition of Prepaid Solutions – now Brightwell Payments).
Chief Compliance Officer
Lynn Cherry has 19 years of prepaid and payments experience, including an extensive background in payroll cards focused on BSA/AML, OFAC and Regulation E compliance. In addition to following regulatory activity and developing and executing on plans to comply with changes prompted by regulation, Lynn also manages prepaid fraud strategies and risk controls associated with card transactions and remittance transfers.
Prior to joining Brightwell in 2011, Lynn served as the VP of Compliance and Risk Management for Skylight Financial which was purchased by NetSpend Corporation, a TSYS company. Lynn filled several operational roles throughout the company prior to landing in the role of Compliance Officer. Lynn began her career in financial services at Wachovia, now Wells Fargo Bank.
Audrey Hall is SVP of Marketing at Brightwell, focusing on developing and executing marketing strategies that support business growth and enhance brand awareness. Previously, Audrey served as VP of Client Strategy at 352, where she was responsible for business development, innovation consulting, customer discovery, community building, and client management for new and existing relationships agency-wide. Audrey has worked across industries with brands such as Princess Cruise Lines, Def Jam Recordings, NBC, AT&T, Raymond James, Cummins Engines, Disney, and the US Air Force.
With an eye for detail and a fancy for whimsy, Audrey believes in the art of storytelling and the practice of making a good cup of coffee. Audrey brings a holistic approach to marketing, connected to culture and rooted in our brand’s story and mission.
SVP, Global Solutions
Hal Ramakers has 25 years’ experience in business development leveraging global solutions to overcome complex business issues with small and Fortune 500 companies alike. He specializes in identifying market needs and driving internal product solutions that generate cost savings for clients, great experiences for end-users, and predictable revenues for the company.
Prior to joining Brightwell, Hal served as the Senior Vice President of Technical Operations for LandAmerica Credit Services. While at LandAmerica, he trailblazed business development, product development, product management and technical operations for the $60M company.
Scot Brands is an accomplished corporate financial executive with proven success in exercising sound strategy to accelerate development stage companies to grow and prosper.
As Chief Financial Officer and in similar senior financial executive leadership roles, Brands led growing companies like WorldCom, Inc. (now Verizon), Gryphon Investors, and McLeod, Inc. from start-up phase to roughly $30 million in revenue prior to entity restructuring and sales.
