Brightwell Payments and Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) have signed a Strategic Marketing Agreement to establish and promote payment efficiencies within the maritime industry using new payments platform, Brightwell Navigator.
“Brightwell Payments has a world-class business partner with ISS and we will work together to leverage ISS’ 300+ port offices, lengthy client roster, and its reputation as a market leader within the maritime industry. The agreement significantly expands Brightwell’s market reach and provides an opportunity to get Brightwell Navigator into market quickly,” said Kenneth M. Goins, Jr., CEO of Brightwell Payments.
Brightwell Payments and ISS are redefining how the maritime industry manages cash disbursements by reducing cash onboard ships. Brightwell Navigator increases security to vessels and crew by eliminating onboard cash for crew payments.
Instead, crew payments are sent via bank transfer and/or loaded to an OceanPay® MasterCard® Prepaid Card, providing a real solution that reduces on-board cash and administrative costs while allowing crew members to manage their own account information, bank transfers and other transfers, online purchases and sharing of funds between family members and themselves.
By working together, Brightwell Payments and ISS will simplify cross-border crew payments for ship owners and managers. Brightwell Navigator eliminates the need to manage large volumes of remittances and works seamlessly with existing payroll software systems. Significantly reducing the administration of accounts and payment information handled by the owner/management, allows for a more focused deliverable.
Brightwell Navigator also offers an online portal providing crew members the freedom and flexibility to manage their finances 24/7. Each crew member can select where they wish to distribute their wages (direct to bank account and/or their OceanPay Prepaid Card), the amounts distributed to each account and the transfer currency. Beneficiary bank account details and distribution amounts are managed directly by the crew member and can be changed at any time. Brightwell Payments seamlessly integrates its maritime paycard product, the OceanPay Prepaid Card, with the Brightwell Navigator to provide crew members additional payment choices, a payment vehicle to perform online transactions, and the opportunity to make purchases in local currency without needing to withdraw and exchange currency in port.
Adds Simon Peters, Head of Global Operations, ISS: “Our new collaboration with Brightwell Payments is a significant step towards ‘cash free vessels’ improving security for crew and empowering them to manage their own finances, accounts, bank transfers and online purchases.”
